Our client is a vibrant Indian street food and tapas bar in South Fremantle, part of a respected and rapidly growing hospitality group with multiple venues across Perth and Fremantle. Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Head Chef to lead the kitchen, drive consistency and quality, and champion team development while showcasing deep expertise in Indian cuisine. The ideal candidate will be hands-on at the pass, commercially savvy and passionate about modern, high-quality Indian food.

Key Responsibilities
• Oversee full kitchen operations, including ordering, receiving, stock control, wastage and cost management.
• Build, train, roster and mentor a high-performing team; foster a positive, accountable kitchen culture.
• Lead prep and service to ensure consistent flavour, texture, presentation and speed across all sections.
• Develop, cost and document menus, recipes and prep guides; ensure alignment with brand standards and seasonality.
• Maintain rigorous food safety and hygiene practices, including HACCP, temperature logs and cleaning schedules.
• Work closely with venue and group leadership on budgets, KPIs and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support group-wide projects and provide occasional support across other venues when required.

Skills & Qualifications
• 3–5+ years in Head Chef or Senior Chef roles with a strong Indian cuisine background (North Indian preferred).
• Demonstrated success in high-volume, quality-focused kitchens.
• Strong menu development, costing, ordering and inventory management skills.
• Excellent organisational, communication and leadership skills with a coaching mindset.
• Thorough understanding of food safety, hygiene and compliance expectations.
• Culinary trade qualifications or equivalent experience (highly regarded).

Additional Requirements
• Valid Australian work rights or eligibility for 482 sponsorship (may be available for the right candidate).
• Willingness to complete police clearance and medicals as required.
• Willingness to relocate to Perth/Fremantle if based interstate or overseas.

Salary & Benefits
• Competitive salary of $75,000–$80,000 + superannuation.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Leading full kitchen operations, including ordering, receiving, stock control, wastage and cost management.

  • Building, training, rostering and mentoring a high-performing kitchen team while upholding service standards.

  • Delivering consistent quality across a busy pass; managing prep schedules, section execution and service timing.

  • Developing, costing and documenting menus and recipes that align with brand positioning and seasonality.

  • Maintaining food safety, hygiene and compliance (HACCP, temperature logs, cleaning schedules and allergen management).

  • Collaborating with venue and group leadership on KPIs, budgets and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Supporting group projects and providing occasional coverage across other venues as required.


What you’ll bring:

  • 3–5+ years’ experience as a Head Chef or Senior Chef with a strong background in Indian cuisine (North Indian preferred; all regional specialties welcome).

  • Proven leadership in high-volume, quality-driven venues.

  • Expertise in menu development, costing, ordering and inventory control.

  • Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene and compliance standards.

  • Excellent communication, organisation and coaching skills; calm, solutions-focused and guest oriented.

  • Relevant culinary qualifications/trade certificates (preferred).

  • Willingness to relocate to the Perth/Fremantle area if not already local.
