The business produces high-quality, plant-based treats – including gluten-free and allergy-friendly options – from a fully equipped kitchen with a strong, collaborative team culture. All products are made from scratch using carefully developed recipes, with a focus on quality, freshness and standout flavour.
Role Overview
We are seeking a full-time Vegan Pastry Chef with strong buttercream cake decorating skills to produce and finish artisan cakes, cupcakes and bakery items. This role suits a creative, detail-driven professional who enjoys a positive, fast-paced environment and likes collaborating on new designs and flavours.
Key Responsibilities
• Produce, finish and decorate custom cakes and cupcakes using buttercream, including piping, palette-knife finishes, colour matching, stacking/dowelling and crumb-coating.
• Execute daily pastry production (sponges, cookies, cupcakes, fillings, frostings) to recipe and brand standards.
• Maintain consistency across taste, texture, portioning and presentation.
• Collaborate with the team on new designs, seasonal ranges and product development, contributing ideas that align with the brand’s aesthetic.
• Keep your workstation clean and organised, completing opening/closing routines, cleaning tasks and basic equipment maintenance.
• Follow food safety and hygiene procedures, including allergen management, correct labelling, temperature logs, FIFO and cross-contamination control.
• Work to daily production schedules and order timelines to meet dispatch and in-store service windows.
• Assist with basic inventory checks and communicate ingredient and packaging requirements in advance.
Skills & Qualifications
• Proven pastry background with advanced buttercream cake decorating skills – a portfolio is required.
• Strong eye for detail, with consistent finishing and high presentation standards.
• Ability to manage time effectively and work at pace in a busy, high-volume environment.
• Allergen awareness (vegan, gluten-free and nut protocols) and excellent hygiene standards, ideally aligned with HACCP principles.
• Team-focused communicator who contributes positively to a supportive kitchen culture.
• Creativity and openness to learning new techniques and evolving the product range.
• Preferred: Experience in vegan baking and adapting traditional recipes to plant-based formulas.
• Preferred: Certificate III/IV in Patisserie or Commercial Cookery (or international equivalent).
Qualifications & Additional Requirements
• Minimum 2+ years’ professional pastry/cake decorating experience in a bakery or pastry kitchen.
• Current Food Safety / Basic Food Handling certificate, or willingness to obtain.
• Confident use of commercial kitchen equipment (mixers, ovens, sheeters, turntables; airbrush experience beneficial).
• Valid Australian work rights – this role is full-time and not sponsored at present.
• Availability for weekend work and early starts as required.
• Portfolio of decorated cakes/cupcakes (photos or link); a police check may be requested.
Salary & Benefits
• Full-time role with a salary in the range of $77,000–$85,000 + super, depending on experience and skill level.

Managing order timelines and production schedules to meet daily dispatch and retail service windows.
Supporting basic inventory checks and communicating ingredient and packaging par levels.
What you’ll bring:
Proven pastry background with advanced buttercream cake decorating skills (portfolio of work required).

2+ years’ professional pastry/cake decorating experience in a bakery or pastry kitchen.
